My research activities are primarily in the area of fluid mechanics, with emphasis on mixing in laminar flows and vortex dynamics, and a particular interest in problems having a biological application. Current studies include topological chaos, mixing in microfluidic systems, and bluff body wakes. My primary focus is theoretical analysis, with computational analysis and experimental flow visualization used as supportive tools.
